About Bonsai Steel
Steel art.
Built for real.
Where we came from
Twenty years of
solving the unusual.
Bonsai Steel grew from the steel design and fabrication practice inside Bonsai Design—a team that has spent two decades turning ambitious concepts into buildable structures.
That work began in aerial adventure, where every site, structure and installation brings a different set of constraints. The team learned to move fluidly between design intent, engineering coordination, shop fabrication, logistics and field installation because the work demanded it.
Today, Bonsai Steel brings that same whole-process thinking to custom steel packages beyond the adventure industry.

Not repetition.
Resolution.
Many fabrication shops are optimized for long runs of standardized assemblies. Bonsai Steel is built for the opposite kind of problem: unusual geometry, one-off components, visible structural work and projects where design decisions have to survive fabrication and installation.
Custom by nature
We are comfortable when the details are project-specific and the solution cannot simply be pulled from a catalog.
Design-aware fabrication
Our shop perspective begins before production, helping connect aesthetic intent to buildable details and practical connections.
Field-tested thinking
Installation experience informs how assemblies are detailed, handled, shipped and sequenced—not only how they look on a drawing.
One continuous process
Design-assist, drawing coordination, fabrication and erection stay connected through one accountable project team.

The craft behind the work
Tools matter.
Process matters more.
Over years of custom work, Bonsai built the working methods needed to translate unusual ideas into finished steel: collaborative modeling, drawing and engineering coordination, custom templates and fit-up, fabrication quality checks, installation planning and experienced field assembly.
The differentiator is not a single machine. It is the feedback loop between the people designing the steel, the people making it and the people responsible for putting it together on site.
